Scope of Work

This position will provide general mechanical engineering support to the Operations Shift Superintendent – Sulphur Station and the Shah Operations team during the project EPC and Startup Phases to ensure operational readiness. The successful candidate will contribute to the resolution of mechanical, structural, maintenance and reliability issues during the engineering and construction phases of the project. Upon completion of the project, the candidate may assume a position of responsibility for the mechanical engineering or maintenance in the Shah Gas Development operations organization.

Reports to the Operations Shift Superintendent

Collaborates and provides appropriate consultation with the Sr. Static and Rotating Equipment engineers in the Central

Engineering organization.

Meets regularly and maintains good working relationships with the Static and Rotating Equipment engineers in the EPC Contractor organization

Supports and works the Operability Assurance plan and program to achieve readiness for operations.

Ensure HSE requirements for equipment and systems are met or exceeded

Deals primarily with the following systems and work processes.

Piping and piping components

Pumps maintenance

Utility Compressors and refrigeration compressors operations and maintenance

Static Equipment (vessels, columns, tanks, etc.) and asset integrity requirements

Conveyor systems maintenance

Machine Monitoring System

Packaged Systems (boilers, furnaces, water treatment etc)

Engineering and Construction Activities for the EPC contract

Project Specifications

Engineering Narratives

Scope of Work

Interface for vendor packages and other EPC packages

Providing details for RFI’s

Data Sheets

Equipment Selection

Technical Specifications

Input for Technical Queries

Technical Bid Evaluations

Vendor Clarifications

Vendor Selection and Review

Equipment Maintainability and Reliability Reviews

Material Requisitions

Site Surveys and reports

Piping Plan, Plot plan and equipment layout adjustments

Model reviews

Review and approval of method statements for tie-ins

Participation in risk assessments and safety reviews for tie-ins

Review of ITP/QCP documentation to ensure alignment with

Project Specifications

Review and approve workshop equipment and layout.

Operability Assurance Activities during Engineering and Construction
Contributes to the development of the various maintenance systems and processes required for start-up and operations
Works on follow-up actions from activities such as the RAM analysis study and maintenance quality system
Provides mechanical integrity requirements for Asset and Operating Integrity program.
Consults with Operations Shift Superintendent and Sr. Mechanical and Rotating Equipment Engineers to align EPC package maintenance system development to the same standard.
Contributes to the Annual Budget preparations

Mechanical Handling Requirements for plant equipment.

Review and follow-up of hand-over documentation (e.g. Operations / Maintenance manuals, CMMS data, etc.)

FATs, SATs and Baseline surveys
Participates in safety reviews and walk-downs
Participates in pre-commissioning reviews and activities as agreed with Contractor
Participates in the Mechanical Completion walk downs.
Participates in commissioning activities
Standardization.
Review and recommendation of commissioning and two-year mechanical spares
Review and recommendation of insurance spares
SPIR reviews.



Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or combination of equivalent degree and mechanical maintenance experience.

At least 10 years Mechanical Engineering experience at Senior or Supervisory level in the manufacturing, fertiliser or chemical processing industry.

Experience in maintainability, constructability and operability planning for mechanical systems in maintenance in major capital or upgrade projects, schedule development or other related aspects of projects and/or maintenance.

Experience in managing maintenance for sulphur granulation and handling facilities.

Ability to work with and influence at different levels of the organization
